Challenges:
5. Sports participation
Pingpong Planet is an innovative VR-based exergame designed to promote physical activity and motor skill development among children aged 5-10. Developed through a collaboration between Hungarian and Spanish SMEs, the project transforms traditional table tennis training into an immersive virtual experience using WebXR technology. Guided by a virtual coach, children engage in missions that enhance coordination, reflexes, and balance while having fun. The platform includes multilingual support (English, Hungarian, Spanish) and a teacher dashboard for progress tracking, making it a scalable tool for schools across Europe.
The project builds on the pedagogical success of the ERASMUS+ BETTALE initiative, adapting its methods for digital environments. By piloting in Hungary and Spain, Pingpong Planet addresses the I3-INSHAPE @School challenge of fostering healthy lifestyles and sports participation in young children. Its low-cost, browser-based design ensures accessibility, while gamification elements keep children engaged. The solution aligns with EU priorities for digital education, inclusivity, and interregional innovation.
